The rise of enterprise social networking: Web 2.0 finds its payday

The survey gathered responses from 3,249 executives across a range of regions, industries, and functional areas. The 1,598 companies using web 2.0 for internal purposes reported the following benefits (percentage of respondents achieving specified benefits):
1. Increasing speed of access to knowledge (77%)
2. Reducing communication costs (60%)
3. Increasing speed of access to internal experts (52%)
4. Decreasing travel costs (44%)
5. Increasing employee satisfaction (41%)
6. Reducing operational costs (40%)
7. Reducing time to market for products/ services (29%)
8. Increasing number of successful innovations for new products/ services (28%)
